Calcite is a common, very soft gemstone (Hardness = 3 on Moh's Scale) which comes in a rainbow of colors, though usually yellow in gem grade. It may be completely transparent or opaque. Metamorphosed (i.e. heated) Calcite is known as Marble. Calcite will fizz when wetted with a mild acid solution. Anything viewed through a clear Calcite crystal will appeared doubled. (NOTE: All beads/stones can be assumed to be about a Grade B and UNTREATED, unless otherwise specified)
