| Grade A | Mostly flawless, bright coloration and very nicely drilled |
| Grade B | Some flaws, but in general, a nice quality bead with good coloration and evenly drilled |
| Grade C | Flaws noticeable and/or may not be as bright in coloration and/or drilled a bit off center |
| Grade D | Very noticeable flaws and/or some uneven or poor coloration and/or poorly drilled or off-round |
