Soapstone Beads

Soapstone is a very soft stone (Hardness 1-2 on the Moh's Scale) that can easily be scratched with a fingernail. Because it is so easily carved, Soapstone has been used to create staturines for thousands of years. Geologists call this stone, Pyrophyllite or Talc. Please assume our Soapstone beads have been stabilized (i.e., treated with a fine resin to help preserve the stone). Helpful Hint: Larger Beads can make inexpensive and interesting focal points for Necklaces! (NOTE: All beads/stones can be assumed to be about a Grade B and UNTREATED, unless otherwise specified)
