However, Strawberry (or Cherry) Quartz turned out NOT to be a real gemstone--rather a synthetic gemstone created in China from glass. Irregardless, this synthethic (SYN) gemstone has enjoyed explosive popularity for the beautiful color. Note! Being glass, this gemstone is softer than real Quartz (hardness 5 on the Moh's hardness scale, versus 7 for Quartz).
